Acoustic Detection Technology in the Analysis of Biomolecular Interactions

چکیده

A biosensor is defined as a measurement device that can convert a biological response into an electrical signal; this information can then be used to obtain detailed information on analyte concentration and the nature of binding to a biological or chemical receptor. Initial commercial development of biosensor technology was focused on diagnostic applications, and in 1973 Yellow Springs Instrument Company (YSI, Yellow Springs, OH) released an analyser for the amperometric detection of hydrogen peroxide to detect blood glucose levels. This was the first of many biosensor-based laboratory analysers to be built for the diagnostics market.
